On July 25, 1992, the country of New Caledonia issued a stamp commemorating the Olympic Sport of Synchonized Swimming and the Summer Olympic Games held that year in Barcelona. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Noumea) on the first day of issue captioned above. Note the lovely postmark featuring the Olympic Rings.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a pair of swimmers in perfect unison. The producer of this cover has written a short commentary about this sport, while looking beautiful and graceful, requires great stamina.
