On April 2, 1985, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate the Stanley Steamer. Named for the twin brothers who built the first one in 1897, production of the Stanley Steamer lasted until 1924. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Kingfield, Maine) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features this early automobile out for a spin. It's printed on silk surrounded by gold embossing. Great art, unaddressed, this cover is a collectible, historic piece of automobile and postal memorabilia.
Double matted in blue & white, this piece will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
