In the year 2000, the Marshall Islands issued 4 stamps to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Zeppelin. These rigid airships with long, cylindrical bodies supported by internal gas cells were invented by Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin, a German military leader who not only designed, but manufactured and piloted airships.
Shown here is the entire set of 4 ...the Original Zeppelin in 1900, the Graf Zeppelin of 1928, the Hindenburg of 1936, and the Graf Zeppelin II of 1937. They are joined by a black & white 1929 photo print of a U.S. airship to illustrate a comparison.
Matted in blue, this piece will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame.
