On October 26,1943, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate the country of Yugoslavia. In 1943 and 1944, the U.S. paid homage to thirteen countries that were overrun by Axis powers during WWII. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Washington, DC) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a street scene and an inset of Gen. Draza Mihajovich. If you are of Yugoslavian heritage, this postal tribute to Yugoslavia will be a welcome addition to your family's keepsakes.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
