On May 19, 2005, the USPS issued a set of twelve stamps to honor MASTERWORKS OF MODERN AMERICAN ARCHITECTURE. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover for the Yale Art + Architecture Building in New Haven, CT. The envelope has the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Las Vegas, Nevada) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features an exterior view of the A+A built in 1963 and then restored after a fire in 1969. Designed by architect Paul Rudolph, the A+A is known for its rugged cuboid forms.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 X 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included as well as a short commentary on this MASTER OF MODERN ARCHITECTURE***
