Yale University.... On March 30, 2001, the USPS issued an imprinted postcard with the imprint or "stamp" commemorating the 300th Anniversary of Yale University located in New Haven, CT. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, in this case a postcard with the imprint or "stamp" cancelled from the city of issue (New Haven, CT) the first day of issue
captioned above. The 'stamp' shows Connecticut Hall, the oldest
building on campus and the sole remaining building of original Georgian
architecture.
The black and white cachet (artwork on the envelope) depicts the five US Presidents that graduated from Yale. Beginning at the top are: William Howard Taft - Class of 1878, Gerald R. Ford - Class of 1941, George H.W. Bush - Class of 1948, William J. Clinton - Class of 1973, and George W. Bush - Class of 1968.
