On September 11, 1952, the USPS issued a stamp to honor Women in the Military. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Washington DC) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features women from the four branches of the military.... Army, Navy Marines and Air Force (no Coast Guard yet).....as well as a small inset of a nurse. Collectible, historic, this is a great piece for woman in the military.
