William Saroyan...

The USPS honored author & playwright William Saroyan with a stamp in 1991in its ongoing literary arts series.  Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new U.S. stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Fresno, CA) on the first day of issue - May 22, 1991. 

The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a black & white portrait of Saroyan. The open book lists three Saroyan masterpieces - "The Daring Young Man on the Flying Trapeze", "The Human Comedy", and "Chance Meetings."  The commentary on the bottom reads,  "Pulitzer Prize Winner for 'The Time of Your Life.'  William Saroyan - American Author and Playwright - Literary Arts Series - 1991 - A Joint Issue by the U.S. and U.S.S.R."

Historic, collectible, it's double matted in  blue & white and will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
