On February 1, 1992, the USPS issued an imprinted postcard with the imprint or "stamp" commemorating the Sesquicentennial (1842-1992) of Willamette University, the West's first institution of higher learning located in Salem, Oregon. Featured on the imprint or stamp is Waller Hall, the oldest building on campus. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, in this case a postcard with the imprint or "stamp" cancelled from the city of issue (Salem, Oregon) on the first day of issue captioned above. Note the special postmark created for First Day Cancellations depicting the outline of Waller Hall.
The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a drawing of Waller Hall. The back of the postcard features a brief history of the University. We have included a copy of it for you.
Double matted in green & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY INCLUDED***
