W E B DUBOIS NAACP 1st Day of Issue Postal Cover On January 31, 1992, the USPS issued a stamp to honor W.E.B. Dubois with a stamp. Shown here is a genuine First Day of Issue Postal Cover, an envelope with the stamp for DuBois cancelled from the city of issue (Atlanta, GA) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The color cachet
(artwork on the envelope) features a painting of Dubois. The caption
below reads, "W.E.B. Dubois - Fearless in the face of racism, important
voice in equality for all." Co-founder of the NAACP, Dubois was able
to gain respect and clout as a leading voice in fighting racism through
his editorship of it's magazine Crisis. The company that produced this cover has also written a brief commentary about Dubois, which we've included.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 X 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
