On August 17, 1992, the USPS issued a set of ten stamps commemorating events that had taken place 50 years before in WWII. Shown here is the stamp honoring all the women who went to work to support the war effort, epitomized in the American icon - Rosie the Riveter, on a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Indianapolis, IN) on the first day of issue captioned above.  Added to the envelope is the 1952 Women in Our Armed Services stamp, featuring a woman from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines.  This older stamp was cancelled along with new "Rosie" stamp, making this a Combo - an extra-special First Day Cover.

The color cachet (artwork on the envelope) depicts women in uniform as well as heading off to the factories. In 1942 approximately 13,000 women answered a nation-wide recruitment call. And your trivia question for the day is, "What company used Rosie on their recruitment posters?"  A short commentary about women and the war effort is included.

Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity and Commentary Included***
