On June 27, 2001, the USPS issued a set of ten stamps to commemorate Ten Classic Ballparks. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover for Wrigley Field, built at a cost of $250,000 in 1914 and home to the Chicago Cubs. The stamp for Wrigley is cancelled from the city of issue (in this case New York, NY) on the first day of issue captioned above. Instead of the usual one city of issue selected for the vast majority of stamps, this set of ten stamps had FOUR....Chicago, Detroit, New York, and Boston.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features Wrigley Field printed on silk, the luster lending an almost three-dimensional quality to the picture.
Double matted in blue and white, this piece is sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
