In 1999 the USPS issued a set of 15 stamps to commemorate people and events of the 1960's. This set was part of a bigger set of 150 stamps (15 for each decade) called Celebrate the Century. An elaborate voting process determined which stamps would be issued. Woodstock, the Rock Concert of all time was chosen as one of the 15 events to represent the 1960's
Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the Woodstock stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Green Bay, Wisconsin) on the first day of issue (September 17, 1999.) Collectible, historic, unaddressed, this cover is a great addition to any collector of Rock & Roll memorabilia.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) is printed on silk and surrounded by gold embossing. Because this cover is part of a series of 150, many companies did not produce individual artwork for all 150 stamps. This company did. In addition they printed a card giving a brief history of this event which we have included.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
