On May 17, 1991, the USPS issued a stamp to honor William T. Piper, the "Henry Ford of Aviation." The low cost of the Piper Cub gave thousands of people the chance to fly. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with Piper's stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Denver, Co.) on the first day of issue (captioned above.)
The color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a portrait of Piper and his famous Piper Cub. The producer of this cover has wriiten a brief commentary about Piper, which we've included. This postal stamp art is a collectible, historic piece of aviation memorabilia.
Double matted in blue & white, we've sized it to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
