On February 7, 1996, the USPS issued a stamp commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the Smithsonian Institution, founded by James Smithson. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the full-color stamp depicting the 'Castle', cancelled from the city of issue (Washington DC) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The cachet (artwork on the envelope produced by a private company, not the post office) again features a drawing of the 'Castle' and an inset of James Smithson.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
