On September 11, 1968, the USPS issued a stamp to honor Walt Disney. Interestingly, he died in 1966, and got his stamp in 1968...an exception to the US ten-year rule. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Marcelline, Missouri - Disney's boyhood home) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a portrait of Disney and his most famous creation, Mickey Mouse. The producer of the cachet is one of a very few to feature Mickey on their cover. Unaddressed, historical, and VERY COLLECTIBLE, this tribute to Disney is a must-have for any Disney collector.
Double matted in blue & white, this pice is sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
