Vanna Venturi House.... On May 19, 2005, the USPS issued a set of twelve stamps to honor MASTERWORKS OF MODERN AMERICAN ARCHITECTURE. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover for the Vanna Venturi House, designed by architect Robert Venturi for his mother, built in 1964, and located in Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia, PA. The envelope has the new stamp, depicting the house in shades of gray, cancelled from the city of issue (Las Vegas, Nevada) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The cachet (artwork
on the envelope) features the front of the house with the off-center
chimney and hearth splitting the structure and space.
The cachet encompasses the entire envelope, in shades of gray,
reflecting the artwork on the stamp. This home received the American
Institute of Architects Twenty-five Year Award as a design of "enduring
significance that has withstood the test of time."
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 X 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included as well as a short commentary on this MASTER OF MODERN ARCHITECTURE***
