On May 11, 1949, the USPS issued a stamp commemorating the 200th Anniversary of the City of Alexandria, VA. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Alexandria, VA) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The cachet (artwork on the envelope produced by a private company, not the post office) features Alexandria as it appeared in 1749, as well as an inset of both Christ Church and Gadsby's Tavern.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
