VERMONT TEDDY BEAR Nurse Doctor Dentist BEAR STAMPS Postal Souvenir Sheet.... In 2002, the Republic of Maldives issued several Souvenir Sheets to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Teddy Bear, first produced by the Ideal Toy Corporation is 1902. A Postal Souvenir Sheet
is a single stamp or several stamps surrounded by extra artwork. They
are meant to be left intact and collected. The usual format is
rectangular, but, in this case, the Maldives went all-out and made their
sheet in the shape of a Vermont Teddy Bear....and
what a charmer she is! In her red plaid dress with white collar
proclaiming "100th Birthday," she stands slightly over 8" tall. Within
her middle are three stamps celebrating Healthy Bears. There is a Vermont Bear for the Nurse, one for a Doctor, and one for a Dentist.
What a fun piece to have in any
doctor's or dentist's office! If you're a Vermont Bear Collector,
