Ulysses Simpson Grant.....
On June 29, 1995, the USPS issed a set of 20 stamps commemorating people and events of the Civil War. One of these stamps honors Union General Ulysses S. Grant. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Gettysburg) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a portrait of Grant, a close-up of the same picture featured on ths stamp. A short commentary on Grant is included.
