On September 23, 1979, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the victory of the Bonhomme Richard over the British frigate Serapis.  Commanding the ship was the Father of the United States Navy's fighting tradition, John Paul Jones.  Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of isuue (Annapolis, Md.) on the first day of issue captioned above.

The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a portrait of Jones and his valliant ship.  This is a great piece of  naval memorabilia - collectible and historic.

Double matted in light blue & dark blue, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity Included plus a short blurb on John Paul Jones***
