S-Class Submarine.....
On March 27, 2000, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate the S - Class Submarine , the last subs to be manufactured during WWI and used effectively - the most famous being USS S-44 - during WWII. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp, cancelled from the city of issue (Groton, Ct.) on the first day of issue captioned above. This stamp was one of five in a prestige booklet pane issued to celebrate the Centennial of the U.S. Navy Submarine Force.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a close-up of an S-Class Submarine plus a full profile drawing of an S-Class. It's printed on silk surrounded by a gold-embossed border.
Double matted in blue & white, we've sized this piece to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
