US NAVAL ACADEMY 150th Anniversary 1st Day Cover COMBO 4 US NAVY Stamps.... On October 10, 1995, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the US Naval Academy at Annapolis. Shown here is a genuine 1st Day Cover,
an envelope with the new US Naval Academy Stamp - showing a sailboat
against the backdrop of the Maryland State Capitol dome in Annapolis - cancelled
from the city of issue (Annapolis, MD) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The addition of three older stamps, which were put on with the new stamp and cancelled along with it, make this First Day Cover a COMBO.
The company that produced this cover chose the additional stamps
wisely: The Centennial of the Naval Academy (1937), the Navy (1945),
and the 50th Anniversary of Naval Aviation (1961.)The full-color cachet (artwork
on the envelope) depicts four flag bearers. The picture is taken from
an original water color painting created expressly for this cover. The
addition of three older stamps, which were put on with the new stamp and cancelled along with it, make this First Day Cover a COMBO.
The company that produced this cover chose the additional stamps
wisely: The Centennial of the Naval Academy (1937), the Navy (1945),
and the 300th anniversary of the city of Annapolis.
This is a rare First Day Cover, as well as being collectible and historic too! It's a great gift for any Naval Academy graduate.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY INCLUDED***
