On May 31, 1993, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate the U.S.Marines assault of Tarawa in 1943. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Washington DC) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a U.S. Marines recruitment poster for WWII. This is a great piece of U.S. Marines and WWII memorabilia.
Double matted in dark military green & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included plus a short blurb on the significance of Tarawa***
