On July 4, 1975, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate the Continental Navy, authorized by the Second Continental Congress on October 13, 1775. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of isuue (WashingtonDC) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) shows a sailors and officers in various uniforms. A short commentary written by the procer of this cover is included. This is a great piece of esoteric naval memorabilia - not everyone will have one of these on his wall!
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity and Commentary Included***
