On August 4, 1978, the USPS issued an imprinted postcard with the imprint or 'stamp' celebrating the US Coast Guard training ship Eagle. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, a postcard with the Coast Guard Eagle 'Stamp', depicting this square-rigger in a side view with all sails unfurled, cancelled from the city of issue (Seattle, WA) on the first day of issue (captioned above.)
The color cachet (artwork on the envelope) shows a head-on view of the Eagle under full sail. The company that produced this cover has also written a brief commentary of the Eagle, which we've included.
Double matted in green & white, we have sized it to fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
