On September 17, 1987, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate 200th Anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution. Shown here is a genuine FIRST DAY COVER, in this case a Maximum Card with the new stamp cancelled from the CITY OF ISSUE (Philadelphia, PA) on the FIRST DAY OF ISSUE captioned above. A Maximum Card is printed on a heavy stock paper, the cachet or artwork taking up the entire card. The words, 'First Day of Issue' are not included in the cancellation in order to not interfere with the art.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the card) features a small boy from the 20th century looking on as the signers affix their signatures to the document. The producer of this cover has also written a brief history of this event as well as verifying that this is indeed a First Day Cover.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY plus COMMENTARY INCLUDED***
