On September 17, 1987, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate 200th Anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution. Shown here is a genuine FIRST DAY COVER, an envelope with the stamp cancelled from the CITY OF ISSUE (Philadelphia, PA) on the FIRST DAY OF ISSUE captioned above.
The cachet (artwork on the card) features a Gold Replica of the stamp mounted on wine velvet mat board surrounded by a gold embossed border and topped with the American Eagle. The Gold Replica is an impression taken from the plate that prints the stamp; the soft base metal is then coated with a layer of 22 ct. gold to keep the base metal from tarnishing as well as adding beauty and value. The producer of this cover has also written a brief history of this event on a piece of heavy stock, embossed paper, which we've included. Collectible, historic, unaddressed, this is a spectacular piece of matted art commemorating one of the greatest events of American History to adorn the wall of any office.
Matted in blue, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY plus COMMENTARY CARD INCLUDED***
