On May 3, 2000, the USPS issued a set of four stamps to honor US Army Officers. One of these was General John L. Hines recipient of the Dinguinished Service Cross in WWI. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Washington DC) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a French village during WWI. Interestingly, Hines was the only American Army officer to cammand in battle a regiment, a brigade, a division, and corps. Historic, collectible, this cover is a great piece of US Army memorabilia.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
