On May 3, 1985, the USPS issued a precancelled embossed envelope portraying the USS Constitution, America's great warship , built in 1797 , restored, maintained and moored today in Boston. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the imprint or "stamp" cancelled from the city of issue (Boston, Mass.) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a drawing of "Old Ironsides" under full sail. Great art, unaddressed, this cover is a collectible, historic piece of sailing and New England memorabilia.
Double matted in blue & white, this piece will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included plus a short blurb on the USS Constitution***
