USMC Puller Lejeune Daly Basilone Distinguished Marines 1st Day Cover....

On  November 10, 2005 (the 230th Anniversary of the U.S. Marine Corps), the USPS issued a set of four different stamps honoring Distinguished Marines...John A. Lejeune, Lewis B. "Chesty" Puller, John Basilone, and Daniel J. Daly.  Shown here is  a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with all four stamps cancelled from the city of issue (Marine Barracks,Washington DC) on the first day of issue cancelled above. A First Day Cover having the complete set of stamps of an issue is always very collectible. Note the special postmark created for the cancellation of these stamps.

The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features the raising of the flag at Iwo Jima and the USMC insignia. The producer of this cover has also written a short commentary about each man; we have included a copy for you.

Double matted in dark Military Green & white, this piece is matted to a fit a standard * x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
