Distinguished Marine - Chesty Puller - Camp Pendleton Cancellation....

On  November 10, 2005 (the 230th Anniversay of the U.S. Marine Corps), the USPS issued a set of four different stamps honoring Distinguished Marines...John A. Lejeune, Lewis B. "Chesty" Puller, John Basilone, and Daniel J. Daly.  Shown here is  a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp honoring Lewis B. "Chesty" Puller cancelled from the secondary city of issue (Camp Pendleton, CA) on the first day of issue captioned above. Note the special Camp Pendleton postmark with the insignia of the First Marine Division.

The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a portrait of Puller, having the distinction of being awarded five Navy Crosses as well as the Silver Star, the Purple Heart and the Army Distinguished Service Cross. The producer of this cover has also written a short biography on the back of the envelope; we have included a copy for you.  What a great keepsake for any Marine who has served at Camp Pendleton!

Double matted in dark Military Green & White, this piece is matted to a fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
