On May 10, 1944, the USPS issued a stamp commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the first Transcontinental Railroad, connecting the West with the East. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Omaha, NE) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features "The Last Spike." Great art, unaddressed, this cover is a collectible, historic piece of railroad and postal memorabilia. Because of its age, this cover is becomming hard to find, especially unaddressed.
Double matted in blue & white, this piece will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
