TITANIC Postal Souvenir Sheets 7 Stamps Matted Art .....

On September 27, 1998, the Maldives issued two Postal Souvenir Sheets to commemorate the most famous ocean liner in history...the Titanic.  Shown here are the two sheets with a total of 7 Stamps.  The larger sheet at the top features pictures of six artifacts (Capt. Edward J. Smith's Cap; a Deck Chair; a Coat Button; a Lifeboat; the Titanic's Wheel; and, a passenger's life jacket) on the stamps with a description above as well as a picture of the Titanic scraping the ice berg.

The smaller Souvenir Sheet at the bottom replicates the front page of a newspaper.  One article describes the survivors that were picked up by the Carpathia arriving in New York City.  The second article describes the search for the dead by the cable ship McKay-Bennett, hired to retrieve what they could find of the 1523 bodies.  The stamp shows the Titanic as she set sail from Ireland on her maiden voyage.  A Souvenir Sheet is one or multiple stamps surrounded by extra artwork.  They are produced for the purpose of being collected.

Both sheets are mounted to preserve their mint condition using clear acid free corner mounts. The lapis blue mat with back core is sized to fit a standard 11x14 Frame.
