Seabiscuit - 1938 Horse of the Year.....
On May 11, 2009, the USPS issued an imprinted stamped envelope to honor one of the greatest race horses of all time - Seabiscuit. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the "stamp", depicting the mighty stallion racing to victory, cancelled from the city of issue (Kansas City, MO) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet
(artwork on the envelope) depicts the magnificent life-sized bronze
statue of Seabiscuit, which was moved from the Santa Anita Horse Track
to its original home at Ridgecrest Ranch in Willits, California, where
Seabiscuit is buried. The picture is printed on silk and 'framed' by a gold-embossed border.
Collectible, historic this is a beautiful piece of postal stamp art to
honor the 1938 Horse of the year, whose story and racing feats inspired
the people of the Depression.
Double matted in green and white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
