On June 17, 1995, the USPS issued a set of five stamps celebrating LIGHTHOUSES OF THE GREAT LAKES...Thirty Mile Point, Marblehead, Split Rock, Spectacle Reef, and St. Joseph. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover for Thirty Mile Point on Lake Ontario, an envelope with the stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Cheboygan, MI) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) depicts this New York lighthouse amid a field of goldernrod which used to flourish in the surrounding area. The picture is printed on silk, making it look almost 3-dimensional.
Double matted in blue & white, this piece is sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
