On September 16, 1995, the USPS issued a set of ten stamps honoring ten different Jazz Musicians.... Coleman Hawkins, Louis Armstrong, James P. Johnson, Jelly Roll Morton, Charlie Parker, Eubie Blake, Charles Mingus, Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane, and Erroll Garner.  Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an oversized envelope with all ten stamps cancelled from the city of issue (Monterey, CA) on the first day of issue captioned above.

The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) depicts a small grouping of several musical instruments featured prominently in jazz music...the bass, piano, saxophone trumpet, and clarinet. From New Orleans to Chicago to New York City, jazz has been called the only art form to originate in the United States.  Strong rhythms, intense emotion, jazz music today is as diverse as the ten musicians honored on this set of stamps called Jazz Legends.  The company that produced this cover has also written a brief commentary about jazz as well as a tribute of the artist, George Sottung, who created the cachet.

At Wall Art Collectibles, we mat to standard frame sizes allowing you to choose the frame of your choice.  Historic, collectible, this matted cover with the entire set of stamps cancelled on their 'birthday' make this a piece of jazz memorabilia that's visually appealing as well - a great 'conversation piece for your home or office!

Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 11x14 frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
