TRAWLER Commercial Fishing 1st Day Cover TRAWLER Stamp.... On September 23, 1981, the Royal Mail of Great Britain issued a stamp commemorating the Trawler (to date, the U.S. has not.) Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new Trawler Stamp cancelled from the city of issue (in this case, Edinburgh) on the first day of issue
captioned above. In short, it's the 'birthday' of the stamp - a
collectible, historic piece of postal, as well as fishing memorabilia. Note the clever cancellation.
The full-color cachet
(artwork on the envelope) features a working trawler used by commercial
fishermen in the icy waters of the North Atlantic. The company that
produced this cover has also written a brief commentary about the Trawler, which we've included.
Matted in blue, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
