On June 13, 1987, the USPS issued a set of fifty stamps commemorating Wildlife of North America. One of these is the Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly, a large, colorful butterfly deriving its name from its stripes and 'tiger' coloring. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp cancelled from the city of issue (A USPS Station set up in Toronto, Canada to coincide with the Canadian Stamp Show) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) shows one of these spectacular butterflies on a branch of bleeding heart plant.
Matted in green and white, this piece will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
