On March 2, 1986, the USPS issued a stamp commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the Republic of Texas. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp cancelled from the city of issue (San Antonio, TX) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope produced by a private company, not the post office) features Sam Houston, a Texas Longhorn, and the Lone Star Flag. The company that produced this cover has also written a brief commentary about events leading up to Texas Statehood, which we've included.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
