On October 7, 1977, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate the Surrender at Saratoga by General John Burgoyne, bringing the much-needed French into the war and giving great heart to the American cause. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamps cancelled from the city of issue (Schuylerville, NY) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a painting of Washington and Burgoyne printed on silk. Historic, collectible, this is one of several pieces of Revolutionary War Postal Memorabilia offered by Wall Art Collectibles.
Double matted in blue & white, this is matted to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
