On July 4, 1986, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate the Statue of Liberty on her 100th Anniversary. This stamp was issued jointly with France, which means the artwork is similar and both stamps were issued on July 4, 1986. Shown here is a genuine Joint Issue-Dual Cancellation First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp from each country cancelled from the city of issue (Liberty Island, NY/NJ for the US stamp and Paris, France for the French stamp.) In the case of a Joint Issue stamp, there is a grace period allowed so that both countries can send their covers to the other country for the stamp to be cancelled on the same date. Note the special US postmark featuring the Torch and the special French postmark featuring the Statue of Liberty, the Eiffel Tower and the skyline of New York.
The blue & white cachet (artwork on the envelope) features the Statue of Liberty. This is one of several collectible, historic pieces of Patrotic Americana offered by Wall Art Collectbles.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
