Star Wars:  Yoda....

On May 25, 2007, the USPS issued a set of 15 stamps to celebrate the movie Star Wars.  Not sold separately, they were available only by purchasing the entire pane.  Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover for the stamp depicting Yoda, teacher to young Jedi for 800 years.  It's cancelled from the city of issue (Los Angeles, CA) on the first day of issue captioned above.    The postmark features Darth Vader, the words "Star Wars", "First Day of Issue" as well as the aforementioned date and city.

The cachet (artwork on the envelope, produced by a private company, not the post office) again features Yoda, this time a close-up view of the small and agile warrior with his lightsaber.  It's printed on silk, the luster lending an almost three-dimensional look to the picture, which, in turn, is framed with an embossed border of gold.  Collectible, historic, it took the US thirty years to issue Star War stamps.  With this First Day Cover you have the 'birthday' of the stamp frozen in time plus excellent artwork, all double matted in blue and white, ready to display on your wall.

Because of the collectibility of these covers we have mounted them for posterity.  The envelope is encased in crystal-clear, acid-free plastic, which is then adhered to the acid-free mat board.  The envelope is also stuffed with acid-free mat to prevent the glue-line from bleeding through over time.  If, at any time, you wish to put this cover in an album instead of on the wall, just carefully slit the plastic and remove the cover.

This piece is sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity as well as the USPS Commentary about Yoda on the back of the stamp Included***
