On August 20, 2005, the USPS issued a five-stamp series to commemorate Five Sporty Cars from the 1950's....the 1952 Nash Healey, the 1954 Kaiser Darrin, the 1953 Studebaker Starliner, the 1953 Chevrolet Corvette, and the 1955 Ford Thunderbird. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover for the Ford Thunderbird, an envelope with the stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Detroit, MI) on the first day of issue captioned above. Note the special postmark created for the cancelltion of the stamps on first day covers.

The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features pink 1955 Ford Thunderbird set against the backdrop of another American icon, the Drive-In. With its distinctive Ferrari-style egg-crate mesh grill, fibergalss body, and 193 hp engine, the elegant Thunderbird was truly a "personal luxury car." The producer of this cover has written a short commentary about this prestigious automobile. We've made a copy for you.

Great art, unaddressed, this cover is a collectible, historic piece of automobile and postal memorabilia.

Double matted in blue & white, this item will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity plus the Short Commentary Included***
