On March 22, 1988, the Royal Post of Great Britain issued a stamp to commemorate the 100th anniversary of England's Football League, the foundation of modern soccer. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Edinburgh) on the first day of issue captioned above. In typical British style, a great postmark has been created to cancel this stamp on its "birthday."
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) depicts a player running with the ball, capturing the fast paced excitement of the game. The producer of the cover has also included a short history of British Soccer from its inception to today with its many world-class teams and individual players. A copy has been made fpr you.
Matted in green, this piece is sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
