Popular Singers....

On September 1, 1994, the USPS issued a set of five stamps to honor five Legends of Popular Music.... Al Jolson, Bing Crosby, Ethel Waters, Nat King Cole, and Ethel Merman. For decades, these five singers thrilled their fans on Broadway, radio, television, records, and films. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with all five stamps cancelled from the city of issue (New York, NY) on the first day of issue captioned above.  Note the special cancellation mark with the 'The American Music Stamp Festival' logo, created expressly to cancel this set of stamps on their 'birthday.'

The color cachet (artwork on the envelope) depicts a drawing of a singer at a microphone with a band or orchestra leader behind him.  The company that produced this cover has also written a brief commentary about each singer as well as about the artist who created the cachet.  Historic, collectible, this is a great piece of music and postal memorabilia.

It's double matted in blue & white and is sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
