On April 8, 1983, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate the upcoming 1984 Summer Olympic Games hosted by Los Angeles, and the sport of the Shot Put. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Los Angeles, CA) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features an athlete ready to heave the 16 pound ball. It's printed on silk, the luster giving the picture an almost three-dimensional quality....it's a great piece of Shot Put Memorabilia.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
