Scallop....

On April 4, 1985, the USPS issued a set of five stamps celebrating some of the exquisite seashells found in US waters.  Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the full-color stamp featuring the Scallop, a bivalve that comes in several colors, cancelled from the city of issue, Boston, MA, on the first day of issue captioned above.

The cachet (artwork on the envelope) depicts three scallops propelling themselves near the ocean floor, surrounded by other marine life including a lobster.  Printed on silk, the colors take on a vibrancy that make the picture look almost three-dimensional.

Double matted in green & wine, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
