Diver with Underwater Treasures.....
On October 3, 1994, the USPS issued a set of four stamps called Wonders of the Sea...from brightly colored tropical fish to scuba divers, playful dolphins, to shells and sunken treasure. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Honolulu, HI) on the first day of issue captioned above. And what a colorful stamp it is: A scuba diver swims with three tropical fish and a chambered nautilus, while a ship's wheel and starfish lay on the ocean floor.
The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a diver in shadow surveying the remains of antique vessels and artifacts on the ocean floor while a chambered nautilus swims by. The company that produced this cover has also written a brief commentary about diving for sunken treasure.
Double matted in blue and white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
