On October 30, 1997, the USPS issued its secular holiday stamp depicting American Holly, used extensively since Colonial days for decorating homes both inside and out for the Christmas season. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the Holly stamp cancelled from the city of issue (New York City) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a beautiful Victorian Santa Claus surrounded by Holly. It's printed on silk, giving luster and depth to the picture.
Double matted in green & white, this piece is sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
